Referring to a message shared at Village Church, 28th June 2026 – https://andrewhillier.org.au/2026/06/28/the-narrow-road/
Jesus’ words about the narrow road were never meant to stay as good ideas. Following Him should shape how I actually live every day.
1. Live for Others
I want to pay attention to the people around me. Who is hurting? Who feels unseen? Who needs compassion, encouragement, or practical help? Jesus consistently moved toward people others overlooked, and I want to do the same.
2. Die to Self
I need to ask myself honestly: where am I choosing comfort over obedience? It might be forgiveness, generosity, serving others, or simply saying yes to something God has been prompting me toward. Following Jesus has always required surrender, and I know that includes me.
3. Become Like Christ
My faith is not just about believing the right things or attending church. The deeper question for me is this: am I actually becoming more like Jesus? More patient, more humble, more compassionate, more willing to serve.
At the end of the day, the simplest question I can ask myself is this:
If somebody watched the way I live every day… would they see someone genuinely following Jesus?
Because the narrow road is found in the quiet daily decisions where I choose surrender over comfort.
Scripture for Today
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
